A. Questions about Sixty-Five Software, Inc., the company:
- What kind of a name is "Sixty-Five" for a software company, anyway?
The name is based on our founding principles: That software should be simple, elegant, and easy-to-use. So what you're probably wondering is how you get "Sixty-Five" from that, right? The answer is that the 6502 microprocessor was the first chip the company's founders ever programmed, and it shared many of those same principles: It was simple, elegant, and easy-to-use. Sixty-Five Software's products embody these principles to the best of our ability. - Who runs Sixty-Five? How old is it?
Sixty-Five Software existed in an embryonic form in 1998, but we didn't start selling our first product until 2006. Since its inception, Sixty-Five has been the brainchild of its founder, Sean Werkema, who is the current corporate president. - What kinds of products does Sixty-Five make?
We're a computer software company, focusing on products that make computers easier to use for average end-users.
(By the way, we don't design advertising or web sites, and we don't sell real estate either; if you're looking for those services, you've got the wrong "Sixty-Five".) - What kind of organization is Sixty-Five? Where is it registered? What is its official address?
Sixty-Five Software, Inc. is a subchapter "S" corporation, legally incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, County of Chester. Its mailing address is presently 283 Meadowlake Drive, Downingtown, PA 19335. - Is Sixty-Five publicly traded? Can I buy shares?
No, sorry. Sixty-Five Software is a private company incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its shares are not publicly traded, and we have no plans to make them public. - I want to contact somebody at Sixty-Five. How do I do it?
Try our contact page if you want to talk to us directly; or if you want support for one of our products, try our support forum.
B. Questions about our web site:
- I'm lost! How do I find ..... ?
We've tried to make our web site fairly easy to search through, but that's no guarantee you'll find what you're looking for. You can try our built-in search engine, and if that doesn't find what you're looking for, you can contact us directly and ask about it or you can ask people in our support forum. - What's up with all the uncrossed t's and undotted i's all over this site?
We were too busy working on our products and paying attention to our customers to cross the t's and dot the i's. Sorry about that.
(Seriously, we do this to show our belief that a company's primary attention should be paid to its products and its customers, not to its paperwork, red tape, or shareholders. If you want first-rate products and personal attention, come to us; if you want quarterly reports and focus groups, go to somebody else.) - I think I found a problem with the web site, like a broken link. How do I report it?
Contact us and tell us right away! We don't like broken links any more than you do, so the sooner you tell us, the sooner we can fix it. - This web site looks strange on my computer (or) My web browser seems to display this page wrong.
The site should look fairly normal and clean. If it doesn't, the most likely reason is that you have a fairly old web browser on your computer (the web browser is the program that lets you view web pages like this one). Old web browsers have problems with a lot of new sites, including this one, so our recommendation is to upgrade your web browser as soon as possible. We recommend that you download and install any of the following (and all of these are free):
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or any higher-numbered version. Old versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, especially IE 5.0 and earlier, are very likely to have problems with this web site (and many others).
- Mozilla Firefox 1.0 or any higher-numbered version. Most versions of Firefox should display this site just fine, but Netscape (Firefox's predecessor) versions 6, 5, 4, and older will probably have problems.
- Opera 8.0 or any higher-numbered version. Opera 7 and older may have difficulty viewing this site.
- Apple Safari 1.2 or any higher-numbered version. Older versions of Safari may have difficulty viewing this site.
In particular, we test the site on IE 6.0, Firefox 1.5, and Opera 9. The site uses XHTML, CSS, and Javascript (but not ActiveX). We've tried hard to make it reasonably compatible, but if you're having trouble, you should start by making sure your web browser is recent enough to display the site in the first place. - I'm concerned about my privacy. What do you do with any personal information you get from me?
Privacy is a big issue these days, and nobody wants their personal information stolen or misused. We've outlined exactly what we collect and what we do with it in our privacy policy, which is written in plain English. The short short of it is that we collect as little as possible and use it as rarely as possible; if you want to know the gory details, go read it.
C. General questions about our products:
- How does Sixty-Five license its software? Can I try it before I buy it?
Yes! Please try all of our software before you buy it; that way, you can be sure your money is well-spent.
We use unusual licenses that try to be very flexible about supporting your needs; just because you have two computers doesn't necessarily mean you need to buy two licenses. There's some trust involved here; we trust you not to lie about how many licenses you need, and in turn, we allow you to buy fewer than most software companies require. Go take a look at our software license page for more details. - I like what I've seen in one of your products. How do I buy it?
We're glad you asked! Grab your major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover) and go to our on-line store. It'll only take five minutes to buy everything you want. - I've heard you have a licensing scheme that may let me pay for fewer copies than I actually install. How do I know how many copies to buy?
It's true; you might only need to buy one license to install multiple copies. We've explained the whole thing on our software license page, so go take a look for lots of explanation and examples. - I don't feel safe using my credit card on the Internet. Is there another way to buy?
Our on-line store is fully secure and safe, but we understand that some people may be wary of buying online. However, at present, we do not offer another means of buying (except for government purchase orders). We believe the Internet is sufficiently secure that we have based our business on it; we trust it, and we hope you will too. - I live outside the United States. What do I have to do to buy?
We work hard at Sixty-Five to produce products that are friendly to non-Americans and non-English speakers alike. That said, the international banking system is a little less friendly about these kinds of things. If you want to buy our products, you'll need a valid major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover). We're sorry to have to require that, but international commerce can be complicated. - I want to buy a lot of copies of one product, or maybe even a site license. Can I do that easily?
Sure! Just go to our on-line store with your company credit card and select a larger number of licenses than just one. We offer volume discounts, and we have flexible licensing that ensures you don't spend any more money than you have to. - I'm not like everybody else. Are there any discounts available to me when I buy?
Not yet. We hope to eventually offer educational, non-profit, and military discounts on our products, but we haven't implemented those programs yet, as they require a bit more paperwork than we currently have manpower to handle. Sorry. - What kind of service/tech-support do I get when I buy?
Every license comes with one year's worth of free upgrades, starting from your date of purchase. If you have questions, you can contact us directly, but you'll probably get a faster response by reading our support forums and posting your question there. We read the forums every day, and reply to every serious question that gets asked there. Plus you can see previous questions asked and their answers, and you can even report bugs and suggest new features there too! - What about upgrade versions? How much do they cost?
Every license comes with one year's worth of free upgrades, starting from your date of purchase. After the year ends, any software you've downloaded will always still work, but you won't get any more upgrades without buying a new license. - I lost my receipt or invoice after I bought it, and I need it for my taxes or records. Can I get a replacement copy?
Yes! Our database automatically remembers all purchases, so all you have to do to get a copy of your receipt is go here and type in your registration information (like your e-mail address). A copy of your receipt will be displayed immediately, and you can print it for your records. - I lost my registration code. Can I get it replaced?
Yes! Our database automatically remembers all purchases, so all you have to do to get your registration code is go here and type in your registration information (like your e-mail address). If the information is correct, your registration code will be e-mailed to you immediately. - I put in my registration code and it didn't work; the program still says it's unregistered. What do I do?
This shouldn't happen, but if it does, it might be a bug. Please contact us and provide in your message your name, your company's name, and your registration code. We'll check your registration code as soon as possible to make sure that it's correct, valid, and working, and, if for some reason it isn't, we can issue a replacement registration code. (We ask you to send your registration code in your e-mail because we want to make sure that the registration code you're trying to use is the same one that we have in our database for you. This is the only time you should ever give your registration code to anyone; and you should never give it to anyone via e-mail. Our web site is safe; the rest of the world isn't.) - I have a great new idea for a feature in one of your products. How do I suggest it?
We welcome ideas! Go to our support forums and go into the "Feature Requests" subforum. Start a new thread there with your idea in it, and we'll be happy to seriously consider it. We can't guarantee every idea will make it in, but a lot of good ideas from the forums have already made it in, so you might as well propose yours too: The only way to ensure it never becomes a part of the program is to never tell anybody, y'know? - That's so cool! Can I see some of the source code?
Sorry, we're not releasing any source code at this time. We may release some code in the future, but for now, you'll have to just guess and wait. - I really, really, can't wait. Can I get beta copies of your software?
From time to time, we will run public beta programs here at Sixty-Five. When that happens, you'll see a notice posted on our site about it. - Ack! I found a bug in one of your products! How do I make it go away?
Tell us about the bug! Nobody's perfect, so there may be bugs in our products. We try hard to remove every one we can find, but some may be left over. So if you think you've found one, be sure to tell us about it in our forums! If it is a bug, we'll work on fixing it; and if it isn't a bug, you'll find out how to deal with whatever you experienced.
D. Questions about specific products:
- I have a question about SpaceMonger.
For all questions about SpaceMonger, see the SpaceMonger FAQ.
E. Other... er, not uncommon questions:
- I have a question that's not on this list. How do I contact Sixty-Five to ask it?
We have a contact page where you can ask anything you'd like. - I'm angry and want somebody to complain to right now. Gimme a phone number or an e-mail address so I can vent some rage.
Eeep... sorry to hear that! Your best bet is to use our contact page; we don't release corporate e-mail addresses to the public, and complaining to the poor telephone sales operators isn't going to give you any satisfaction because they don't really know anything about our company or our products. We'll try our best to resolve your problem when you contact us, but please remember that while we are a company, it's a company composed of human beings who can't fix everything at once. Please try to be patient with us, and we'll try our best to be helpful for you. | |
