READ FIRST: Known bugs in SpaceMonger

Postby seanw on Tue May 02, 2006 4:40 am

This is the list of known bugs in SpaceMonger (slash to-do list ;)). Please check this list before posting a bug to the forum, since if it's listed here, it's likely to be fixed in a future release.

See the Official Changelog for a complete list of current bugfixes and new features.

Known bugs:

Code: Select all
[crash]  When scanning very large volumes, if SM runs out of
RAM, it will simply crash.  Better out-of-memory-handling
code should be included in the next version.
[freeze]  Tabbing still seems to occasionally drop into an
infinite loop.  Verify correctness of window tree.  (Research
suggests the window tree may be correct, but the tabbing
routine may be wrong.  More research is needed.  However,
the problem has been shown to be repeatable now.)
[crash]  Disk updates seem to cause crashes in rare circumstances.
It's hard to say exactly why; sometimes the crashes are
deep in the OS, and sometimes in weird places in SM's
code.  Repeatability is a problem here.
[crash]  Mouse-cursor changes seem to be able to occasionally
dereference bad pointers.  This is a weird bug that's hard
to repeat, and seems to be deep in Wink somewere.
[glitch]  Selection bar:  Single-entry selections are sometimes
not obviously highlighted on first click.
[bug]  Setup: Free/unused treemap colors don't save across instances
[bug]  SM, 9x: When opening files, SM may steal focus from the newly-
           opened file.
[bug]  In some rare circumstances, the disk-watcher may still fail to
           rescan changed folders
[bug]  Investigate GetCompressedFileSize() returning invalid values
[bug]  Wide fonts (Verdana, Courier) still cause some text to get
truncated on the Setup dialog box
[glitch]  Setup:  Rollover color-selection box's enabling should
depend on the current rollover mode.
[bug]  XP-64:  Titlebar flickers during a scan or during window resizes.
[bug]  XP-64:  Colored lines may appear on titlebar or menubar.
[bug]  XP-64:  Directory renaming is producing invalid results for
           the system32/ directory.
[bug]  SpaceMonger does not prompt when overwriting files in the
destination with the same names as those being copied/moved.
[bug]  Corrupted language files can cause SM to hang on startup

Known bugs:

Code: Select all
[glitch]  Setup option "Watch for changes to the disk" doesn't
           work:  SM is always watching.
[glitch]  When deleting files, the timer may end up way off if
           SM starts scanning.
[glitch]  Shift+Delete in files' context menus doesn't work.
