Filtering Accessibility

A
part from the existing requests of displaying colors by date...

... centralized functionality to filter-out content by date range or otherwise,
from the first level of the UI would be a definite advantage.
(from toolbars or pannels)

Settings like ::
Date Range
for color and visibility range maybe with "live" virtual sliders,
( virtual sliders like currently used for color values in the setup dialog )
( Maybe something like that wouldn't be as zippy as when zooming but... )

( 4 date range sliders :: Start/End Date Color -- Start/End Date Visibility )

Keep Relative Size Option
Showing local blank space for hidden content
(visibile folders & files keeping their relative size proportional to hidden items,
not filling-up all their containing box's screen space)

(maybe with option to emphisize their size,
like the existing "Exaggerate Large Files" checkbox in the setup dialog)

Checkboxes for fltering-out grouped filetypes,
like in statistics view pie chart

2 wildcard input fields (maybe with regular expressions?)
for including or excluding comma separated (or something separated) wildcards.

___________

.. bringing the possibility to get an overview of recent,
or otherwise specific files and their relative proportions.

(recent files, being the content which often needs the most attention for management.)

I'm sure none of this can be achieved by turning on a dime,
but I don't think I would be the only one to drool over such features. :)

Very impressive software by the way ! [mmorpg-spam] !! Kudos !

Cheers !

Update !

___________________________

This is the way I currently do some filtering.

If say I wanted to get an overview of all of last month's movie files,
that are between 100 and 500 megs.
___
FILTERING FILE TYPES
I can right click the "Video" part of the pie chart,
and do "Hide all files Not this slice"

_____
FILTERING BY DATE
Then I can hide all files apart the ones from last month

By sorting the bottom file list by date,
and selecting all files in the tree "SCAN -> Select Files"

Then selecting all files before last month in the file list
by selecting the first file item,
then scrolling to and SHIFT-Clicking the last item dating before last month,
and finally hiding them by right-clicking on the selection, and doing "Hide".

To then do the same for all files dating after last month til' today.

______
EXCLUDING by FILE SIZE

In the Bar Graph showing filecount of different Size Ranges,
I can CTRL-click on each bar of the size ranges I want to exclude.

Which Appends files in the file list,
to then hide these files also.

___

All a bit tedious, but doable.

___________
Next thing I'll try is to filter by wildcards ?

I saw in setup -> pie chart settings
that I could specify custom wildcards in pie charts

I could maybe then control the visibility of
the files in the new slice, in the Statistics view.

_________

So for coming back to the feature suggestion
a pannel that could do all that from 1 place,
could save quite a bit of fiddling around.

Also, considering that probably maybe lots of this has been thought-up,
or otherwise suggested in some form..

Then consider this post as a vote ! :)

Cheers !
