Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

Your privacy is important to us. No, seriously, it really is --- we too have been inundated with spam, threatened by spyware, bleared at by adware, had our personal information sold to the highest bidder, and generally treated like numbered cattle. We at Sixty-Five generally hate how most companies treat their customers' privacy, so we've done our best to care as much about your privacy as we do about our own.

Below is the full text of our privacy policy, and you're welcome to read the whole thing, but we've tried hard to summarize it in just a few bullet points here so that you don't have to read it if you don't want to.

Quick Summary:

What gets recorded when you visit our site or use our products?

  • IP addresses: We record the IP addresses of people who visit our site to help protect against vandalism and spammers.
  • Purchases: When you buy something from us, your name and address and stuff gets stored in our purchase database. We do not keep your credit-card number.
  • In the forum: When you sign up in the forum, you have to provide your e-mail address. The forum records your e-mail address and IP address.
  • When you contact us via the contact form: Obviously, we get your e-mail address; otherwise, we couldn't reply to you.
  • Cookies: We may store cookies in your browser, especially when you buy from us or use our forum, both for our security and for your convenience (some features of the site don't work without them). They contain no personally-identifying information. Their content is not available to any other web site, and you can safely delete them as soon as you leave our site.

What do we do with any information we collect?

  • We may study it for our own purposes.
  • We may store it in a database that only we can access.
  • We will not give it or sell it to anybody else --- unless it's a law-enforcement officer with a search warrant.
  • If our company is ever bought by another, they'll have to follow these rules too --- for any information we collected before being bought.

Privacy Policy (long version)

These are the official policies of Sixty-Five Software Inc. (Sixty-Five) on the right of privacy of our visitors and users. This document may be found on the web at http://www.sixty-five.cc/tos.php.

We may collect the following types of information:

  • IP address and related log information - When you use Sixty-Five's web site or services, your web browser may provide to us your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the type of your browser, the date and time of your request(s), any cookies which it has stored, the language you prefer to see, the contents of your browser's address bar, and the address(es) of other web page(s) you may have seen recently, at its discretion. We may at our discretion collect any of this information, which your web browser provides to us at its discretion while you are using it.
  • Purchases - When you buy one of our products or services from our on-line web store (Store), you are required to provide the minimum necessary personal details for us to process the transaction. These details may include contact information, such as your name, company, street address, e-mail address(es), city, state, and country, as well as financial information, such as your credit card number, its expiration date, and CVV2 or AVS code. We collect your contact information when it has been provided for a purchase, but we do not collect credit card information --- we store it on our servers only long enough to process your transaction, and we store it encrypted as well so that anyone with access to the server cannot see it. (The encryption key is never stored on our servers, and is randomly and uniquely generated for your transaction.) When your transaction is complete (which usually only takes a few seconds), your credit card information is permanently deleted from our servers. Our hosting service may regularly make backups of the content of our servers, and while it is unlikely (almost impossible) that they will ever back up your credit card information, it is theoretically possible --- but even if it gets stored in a backup, it is stored encrypted, and cannot be viewed by anyone. However, your contact information and your license key(s) are stored in our database.
  • The forum and other accounts - If you create an account on our servers, you may be asked to provide information about yourself, including your name, location, and e-mail address. We may record this information associated with your account(s).
  • User contacts - When you send e-mail or other communication to us, we may retain those communications. By sending communication to us, you grant us the right to use the content of that communication for any purpose we deem necessary or appropriate, including but not limited to improving our products or services, processing your inquiries, and advertising our products or services. If your communication is used in our advertising, we will not use any personally-identifying information other than your first name (given name).
  • Cookies - When you visit our site, we may send one or more small data files (cookies) --- to your computer. Cookies may contain information about you, but it is not personally-identifying information. We use these cookies to track which parts of our site you visit, to provide you with easier access to any accounts you may have with us, to allow you to customize parts of our site, to track your selections when you buy products or services from us, and to limit unauthorized access to certain parts of our site. These cookies are only available to our servers, and are not available to any other web site. Most browsers accept cookies, but you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent to you by us. Some features of this site and/or some of our services may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

We may use any information you provide to us in the following ways:

  • We may study it for our own purposes. To improve the quality of our site and our products, we may analyze and aggregate any information you provide to us.
  • We may store it for archival or legal purposes. All personally-identifying information is stored in password-protected databases, and may be stored encrypted as well. We may make backups of these databases
  • We will not give it or sell it to anybody else --- unless it's a law-enforcement officer with a search warrant.
  • If our company is ever bought by another, they'll have to follow these rules too --- for any information we collected before being bought.
